Halima is a married woman with six children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.
For the past ten years, she has operated a water supply business, selling from home to her neighbours and passersby. In addition she also owns real estate houses which earn her another source of income. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her place of operation. She dreams of establishing more real estate houses in the future.
With the Kshs 50,000 she wants to purchase a water tank for storing more water for sale. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
