Bayram K. is a 39 year old shop owner who has been in business since 2002. He lives with his wife, two sons, and daughter in the southern Bilasuvar region of Azerbaijan. They are Internally Displaced Persons living in a settlement. Bayram is requesting a loan of $1200 USD to be repaid over 18 months to increase the inventory in his shop.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
