Guillermina is one of our associates from the Hato Mayor branch, located in a rural town whose economy depends on agriculture. Guillermina makes homemade pastries using local ingredients like coconut, peanuts, and milk. She makes soft, cake-like coconut cookies called Coconetes, which are one of the most popular homemade cookies in the Dominican Republic. Guillermina also mixes fruits, such as pineapple, into some of her recipes. She will uses this loan to buy ingredients for her pastries, like coconut, flour, sugar, cinnamon, butter, and fruit.
Guillermina lives with her long term partner in one of the rural neighborhoods of Hato Mayor. She tells us that, for her, the most difficult challenge has been to take her business to the next level. She has been running her business for over 13 years, and she is receiving her 13th loan. Guillermina is very proud of how her business has been growing during these years because of the loan investments. In the future, she hopes to have a factory to produce more pastries. She thanks you all for your support!
