The Communal Bank "Primero De Abril" gets together every fifteen days in Montecristi Canton, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and for its handicrafts which are recognized on a national and international level, the place of the famous "Panama hats." This is a group of people who decided to unite some time ago and form this communal bank which has served them well. They work at various things such as business, services, food sales, and other activities.

This is where Walter lives. He is 33 years old, he is married and has four children with his wife; they are 17, 16, 14, and 11 years old. They all study, the older ones in high school and the youngest in elementary school. His wife is a housewife.

He works selling fruits and vegetables every day from 5 am to 2 pm. At dawn he goes in his car to the wholesale market in Portoviejo to buy the products to be able to offer them to his customers. Later he goes through the city and certain nearby places selling his products. He has been doing this for 16 years and thanks to God it provides him with what is necessary to live.

This loan is to buy fruit and vegetables. He has had five loan cycles with the communal bank and he likes it because the loans are a big help to finance his business. His dream is to buy another car since the one he has is a little run down.
