Blanca Elida
Blanca is a very hardworking person who has striven mightily her entire life to move her family forward. She’s married and has four children. She’s always looked for ways to offer her family a better quality of life. Because of this, noting that the income her husband generated was insufficient to cover all household expenses, she decided to start her own business to generate additional family income.

Thanks to a girlfriend who taught her the business she’s been selling personal use products for the last three years and has managed to capture a large number of customers which has meant very good sales. Thanks to her good products she gets good orders and now she’s looking for a way to offer her products at home and to be able to display them properly. Because of this, Blanca is looking for a loan to buy a display case and personal use products to stock it and to be able to sell her products from home and to display them well.

In this way she will be able to make her business more attractive to her customers because she will be more visible in the sector to people who are still unaware of her business generating higher income and thus offering her husband and her four children a better quality of life.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
