Jesus Antonio
Jesús is a person who thanks to his work has managed to move his own business forward and consolidate it among his customers. About three years ago he set up his own cheese stuffed ‘arepa’ [stuffed grilled corncakes] making business which has grown considerably in the last few years to such an extent that he can now generate employment for one person who is in need so that their family can also enjoy a better quality of life.

Jesús is separated and his only son lives with him so he works hard every day to have good quality at home for his son and to give him a good education as well as insure an economically stable future and a university education for him.

He’s managed to win over a large number of customers for his business who constantly place orders and this is why Jesús is looking for a loan that will allow him to buy ingredients he needs to make the arepas like corn, cheese and flour, among others, to be able to fill the large orders his customers have placed.

In this way his business will continue to grow as well as his income will in the same way thus having better quality of life and improved economic stability at home.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
