We would like to purchase dying products to dye and then sew, embroider and knit clothing in order to make high-quality products that we will sell to tourists, as we live in a seaside region that welcomes many visitors every day. With this loan, we would like to train young village girls in order to keep them from being seduced by the big city and to provide them with training they can use for the rest of their lives. Our goal is to rent a location to use as a training and production workshop. This is a contribution that we will make to the development of our town and also to the fight against poverty, rural exodus and illegal immigration, a problem that has plagued our seaside region.

Translated from French by Kristina Jackson, Kiva Volunteer.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
