Samia is a 48-year-old widowed woman living with her three children. Two of them are still attending school while the other one is working. Samia works really hard to be able to satisfy her family's needs and demands. She has opened her own grocery store in 2007 in her town and has gained a fair number of customers so far. Today she’s requesting to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase more groceries and food provisions for her shop in order to increase her sales and thus her revenues. In the future, she plans to open her own minimarket.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
