Raul Fabian
Raúl is a 38 year old man who lives with his wife and their two children (12 and 10 years old). They live in “San Miguel de Los Bancos", a rural canton in the Pichincha province where Ecuador’s capital is located. One of the primary resources in “Los Bancos” is the water, since in this area, there are an endless number of streams and small springs that run into considerable sized rivers. This canton has a large commercial movement that has developed on the main street where you can find hotels, restaurants and grocery stores. There are especially a lot of agricultural products as well as veterinary services and stores that serve the daily needs of the population.

Raúl works as a guard during the day. In addition, on the farm where he lives, with the help of his wife, he raises livestock to later sell them. This entrepreneur wants to buy more livestock to sell in order to earn larger profits. His daily work is difficult. The most difficult part is cleaning the pastures where he keeps his animals, according to him. This is first loan with Fundación Alternativa which is the intermediary between Kiva and Raúl. The credit evaluation determined that Raúl has a low risk of default. In addition, the institution not only will provide money that he needs but it will also offer consulting and training in a way that lets him make the most profitable investments possible.

His dream is to see his children finish their studies so that they can have a better life. He hopes that with this loan and with bigger profits, he will be a lot closer to achieving that goal.
