Yin was married with six children but now she has become a single parent. She is 48 years old and lives in Kompong Cham province. Yin is a farmer and grows rice and vegetable crops to earn a living. She has been doing this for almost 20 years.
Yin has requested a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to pay for rented farmland and to purchase additional fertilizers and pesticides. She has been a client of HKL for four years and this is her third loan. She hopes to expand her business in the coming years.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
