Firuz H. lives in the Varzob region of Tajikistan. He is 24 years old and single. Firuz has a college degree in engineering. He works as an engineer at the local power plant but his salary is very small and he supplement it by raising cattle. Firuz owns a barn where he keeps calves, that he purchases at the market, fattens and then sells for a higher price. This helps him support himself and his parents. Firuz wants to buy additional animals but for that he needs to take out this loan. Currently the prices on cattle are lower, since the animals are thinner after the winter. Firuz is planning to pay back the credit in the next 12 months.
