She and her husband are both responsible for meeting the household's various expenses. Pélagie did not go to school.

In order to meet her expenses, for the last ten years or so Pélagie has been selling grains and canned food in Benin. Pélagie obtains her supplies in a town in Benin. With the goal of satisfying her growing number of customers, and making more profit, Pélagie and the other members of LA PAIX are asking ALIDé for a third loan. The previous loans have all been fully repaid.

LA PAIX est un groupe composé de quatre personnes qui résident dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe du nom de Pélagie (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgé de 39 ans. Pélagie est mariée à un revendeur du nom de Adolphe. Le couple a deux enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Pélagie vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari et assure ensemble avec son mari les charges de la maison. Pélagie n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Pour faire face à ses différentes charges, Pélagie mène comme activité la vente de céréales et de conserves depuis une dizaine d'année au Benin. Pélagie s’approvisionne dans une ville du Benin. Dans le but de mieux répondre aux exigences de sa clientèle de plus en plus nombreuses et de se faire plus de profit, Pélagie sollicite, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe LA PAIX un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Les crédits reçus antérieurement ont été bien remboursés.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
