Manale is a 32-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and two school-age children. She cooperates with her husband in order to satisfy their family needs. Manale started to work as a tailor from her home in 2007 after having many years of experience in this domain. As for her husband, he has been serving in the Lebanese army since 1996. Today, she’s requesting to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase a new tailoring machine, which will allow her to increase her production and therefore her revenues. In the future, she plans to open her own clothing shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
