Solio, 43, is single and has three children two of which still depend on him. He’s been an Edaprospo client for four years. He provides urban transportation service, a business he’s been in for 12 years. He started out because he wanted to give his children a good education and earn better income to cover needs.

He currently spends his income on food, electricity, water and telephone. His plan for the future is to continue growing and purchasing more cars for his business. He used the loan to buy some spare parts for his car because some of the parts broke.

Solio belongs to the “Cristo es Vida’ (Christ is Life) communal bank which has been in operation for four years. Solio recently became group president and there are 7 members.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
