The Renacer Del Cerro communal bank of Guayabal meets every two weeks in Guayabal, Cantón Montecristi. This place is known its rich pre-colonial culture and its artisanal crafts, recognized nationally and internationally.

This is a group of 13 members who decided to get together 4 months ago and form this communal bank. It has been a great help, since they have been able to grow their small businesses. They work in different activities such as sales, services, selling food and more.

One of the members of this group is Margarita Cuz. She is 55 years old, married and has 8 children. Seven of them are grown and a 14 year old girl goes to high school. All of her children live in her home, although one is engaged. Her husband is a merchant.

In order to help her husband with the household expenses, she sells clothes and Yanbal products (beauty products such as cosmetics, perfume and women's accesories). She sells door to door, working three days a week for two to three hours a day. She sells her products on credit since if she doesn't she doesn't sell, and collects every week. She has been doing this activity for more that 4 years and it is going well for her. Thanks to this, she was able to to pay for her daughter's schooling.

This loan is to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics and clothes. This is her second loan, like it is for most of the members of the communal bank and she likes it because the loans are quick.

Her dream is to see her daughter earn a professinal degree and that is why she fights day to day to give her a good education.
