Rose has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help her buy irrigation equipment in order to expand her banana farming. She hopes to do well with the expansion since she has a strong market base for her products. The income will help her to pay the college tuition fees for her last-born child.
Rose says the high costs of farming inputs is a deterrent to many people considering entry into the farming business. She adds that farmers need proper training in agricultural techniques in order to reap profits from their investments.
Important InformationTo facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
