Henry is aged 63 and has been in mixed farming for forty years. Besides farming, he mines building materials from the local quarry and sells to local customers. He is married with six adult children.
Henry has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo. He will use the loan to construct a zero grazing unit for his dairy animals. He plans to increase the number of his dairy animals once he constructs the unit. He hopes to generate enough income to improve the living standards of his children.
He says local markets are not well developed to help farmers and he sees animal diseases as another challenge in farming. He is however grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for the loan services.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
