Salama is a 26-year-old married woman with one child. Her husband's name is Alfred and he works as a procurement officer. For the past six months, Salama has operated a business selling charcoal from home. Her primary customers are charcoal retailers. Salama's other source of income is her husband's income and her greatest business challenge is seasonality. She rents a house with electricity and running water and her greatest monthly expense is food. Salama joined Yehu to access capital to expand her business.
Salama is requesting a 50,000 KES loan to construct a shed for her business. She aspires to hire employees in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
