"Couture Grâce à Dieu" (Dressmaking by the Grace of God) is a business created by three people: A. Akossiwa, 39; A. Massan, 35; and K. Akuvi, 36. These three women are mothers of 4,4 and 5 children respectively. Like a lot of women in Togo, they work as seamstresses. They create clothes for clients in d'Aventonou, a small village situated approximately 120 kilometres from Lomé, the togolaise capital. With this loan, they will buy 3 sewing machines to better satisfy the needs of their clients. They also hope to use the money to go to Lomé to buy pagnes (traditional fabrics) to resell them in Aventonou. They hope with this loan to increase the capacity of their shop and in doing that, better take care of the needs of their families through the profit they will get from selling the fabrics.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
