Nenita is 62 years old and lives in Nailon, Tudela Misamis Occidental. She is married and blessed with five adult age children. Her husband is a pensioner. She established her own small business to help her husband generate income for the family. Nenita works in the agricultural business, raising domestic pigs for sale commercially. She has been active in this business for 19 years and has generated a good return to date. She has had a return monthly in the amount of PHP 5,200.
Recently she joined GDMPC and applied for a loan of PHP 8,000 to purchase feed for the pigs' growth and good nourishment. She plans that in the near future, a portion of the income generated will be reinvested into the business for expansion.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
