Ademar
Ademar is 40 and makes a living through carpentry. He lives with his wife and kids in a community called Osa, which is located in Caña Blancal in Puntarenas. This community is known for being a very rural area and is visited a lot because of its beaches. Its main economic industries are tourism and agriculture.

Ademar does carpentry work, and he says it is very interesting to him because he has seen how his business is growing little by little. His demand is always getting stronger, and the neighbors in the community have benefitted from his products. He also has some goals that he hopes to reach with financial help.

Ademar is requesting a loan for one million colones to buy supplies (wood) and to remodel his shop.

Ademar is a member of the communal bank of Caña Blancal, one of the 110 member organizations of EDESA in Costar Rica. With this loan, he hopes to grow at a personal and economic level. He also points out that thanks to this type of organization and ways of facilitating credit, he can dedicate more time to productive activities.

Ademar tiene 40 años, es un señor que se dedica al oficio de la ebanistería, vive con su esposa e hijos, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal esto en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus playas. Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.

Don Ademar se ocupa de realizar trabajos de ebanistería y dice que este proyecto es muy interesante ya que ha visto como poco a poco su negocio crece y la demanda cada vez es más fuerte y que los vecinos de la comunidad se han beneficiado de sus productos, además tiene algunas metas que desea lograr con ayuda financiera.

Lo que en estos momentos solicita don Ademar es un micro crédito de un millón de colones (1.000.000) para compra de materia prima (madera) y para remodelar su taller.
Ademar es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 110 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo se espera crecer más a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede dedicar más tiempo a las actividades productivas.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
