Wilberth
Wilberth, 23, is a young man living with his family in a community called Osa located in Caña Blanca in Puntarenas Province. This community stands out because it’s a rural zone that gets many visitors due to its beaches. Its main economic activities are tourism, farming and raising livestock.

This young man works near the community where he lives with his family. However, he wants to earn additional income in order to help them more. Because of this he wants to buy a motorcycle so that he can work weekends making deliveries for stores and to get to work every day.

What Wilberth is asking for at this time is an 800,000 colones micro loan to buy the motorcycle and offer his services as a delivery man to stores; he plans to do this on weekends.

Wilberth is a member of the Caña Blanca communal bank, one of Edesa’s 150 member organizations in Costa Rica. With this loan he expects to grow more both personally and economically. He also points out that thanks to this type of organization and means of extending credit he can spend more time on productive activities.

Wilberth es un joven de 23 años de edad, el cual vive con su familia, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal esto en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus playas. Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.

Este joven labora cerca de la comunidad donde habita con su familia, sin embargo
desea obtener ingresos adicionales para ayudarla más , por esta razón desea comprar una motocicleta para trabajar los fines de semana como repartidor en los comercios y trasladarse al trabajo todos los días.

Lo que en estos momentos solicita Wilbert es un micro crédito de ochocientos mil colones (800.000), para comprar la motocicleta y ofrecer sus servicios en el comercio como repartidor, esto lo piensa hacer los fines de semana

Wilberth es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 150 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo se espera crecer más a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede dedicar más tiempo a las actividades productivas.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
