Phoeung is 39 years old. She lives with her husband and children in Ang Snoul district. She has been engaged in farming for almost 20 years. From this business, she is able to earn suitable income to sustain the family. However, the main income provider is her husband who works hard in the construction field from place to place with his team countrywide.
This is the second loan that Phoeung has received from HKL. She will use it to buy a couple of cows to keep for working on her own farm. She hopes to gather a rich harvest in the following months. This will allow her to reduce some expenses of plowing fees and insure improved living conditions for them.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
