MAHOUDJRO is a group of three people whose members all live in the same area. The group’s representative is Catherine (whose hand is raised in the photo). She is 41 and married to a man named Thierry. They have four dependent children, all in school. Catherine lives with her husband and children, and the couple handle together the various household responsibilities.

Catherine has been selling second-hand clothing door-to-door in Benin for nearly ten years. She buys her stock at a market in Benin.

This is the second time that the group is seeking financial assistance from ALIDé to strengthen their working capital and their activity, and also to better meet the needs of their customers. The first loan was repaid without incident.

La représentante du groupe, Catherine (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 41 ans et est mariée à un certain Thierry. Le couple a quatre enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Catherine vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari et assure ensemble avec son mari les différentes charges de la maison. Depuis près de dix ans, Catherine vend des friperies de façon ambulante au Benin. Catherine s’approvisionne dans un marché du Benin. C’est la deuxième fois que Catherine et les autres membres du groupe MAHOUDJRO sollicitent l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue de renforcer leur fonds de roulement et leur activité et de mieux répondre aux exigences de leur clientèle. Le premier crédit reçu a été bien remboursé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan
