Alya is a forty-four-year-old Lebanese widowed woman. She lives with her three children who are still attending school. She’s the one responsible for her family and covering her children’s expenses. Alya has been working as a private teacher for the past four years from her home. She also visits her students at home. She’s intelligent and an expert in her field.
Today, she’s asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a car for her business. She notes that this will facilitate her transportation and allow her to attract additional students. In the future, she plans to have a teaching room in her home.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
