A loan of $525 helped to buy hairdressing equipment.

Hawa Issa's story

Hawa Issa is 40 years old, married, and mother of three children. She lives with several other families in the Médine neighborhood of Ségou.

Since she didn't go to school due to family reasons, she began performing revenue-generating activities from an early age. In particular, she began braiding hair with her sister, who braided hair for a living. After several years of learning by her sister's side, she decided to start her own business by opening up a hair salon for braiding hair. She has been running this business for the past 20 years and has a lot of experience and customers. Her greatest strength is her creativity.

She is seeking this loan in order to stay up to date and make more profit. She has been working with Soro Yiriwaso for 18 months now, after three group loans that were all correctly repaid. She is now on her first individual loan, which she will use to buy 1 hand-held hair-dryer and 1 freestanding hair-dryer. She stocks up in her town.

Hawa Issa provides her services for cash, or credit for her regular customers. With this loan, she plans to earn a monthly profit of 120,000 FCFA. These profits will allow her to pay back the interest on her loan and diversify her revenue-generating activities.

Her goal is to build a house to live in.
