Margarita is the group coordinator of Esther 1, 3, & 4, which is made up of 15 micro-entrepreneurs. This group is located in the city of San Pedro de Macoris, in one of the rural villages surrounding the main city. Margarita enjoys working and being at her home with her family. She lives with her long-term partner and their three children. She said that her most difficult challenge is to improve her business. She dreams of having a successful business and to bring change to her family.

Margarita operates a business selling miscellaneous items like cosmetics, shoes, and clothes. She will use the loan to purchase dozens of these items to increase her business inventory. She is excited to receive her 11th loan with Esperanza Internacional, as with each loan she has been able to invest in her business and improve it, making it possible to provide for her family's needs. She thanks all of you for your support of her business and her group.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
