Comerciantes Group
In this Group: Aurora , Ma Guadalupe, Maria , Maria De La Luz, Maria Elena, Rocio Guadalupe
Comerciantes [Merchants] is a support group of 6 enterprising women. They are in their second cycle right now with this institution and they chose that name because they are all women who are merchants.

María is one of the members of the group. She is 55 years old and married. She has 4 children, all of them young and hardworking. In fact, 2 of them work with her. More than 10 years ago, Maria, with her family, decided to open a metalworks business. It has grown little by little and has a good reputation among the neighborhood residents. María is asking for this loan because she hopes to create a collection of samples of doors and handrails to attract more customers. This way, they will be able to see the samples from outside of her business. María dreams of one day being able to enlarge her workshop even more and be able to have more customers and more income.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
