Datuna is 39 years old. He lives in a village in the Samtredia District, West Georgia. Datuna is married and lives with his family: wife, Irma, 18-year-old daughter, seven-year-old son and parents. The children go to school.
The only source of income for the family is agriculture. They have a dairy farm with five milk cows. Datuna’s mother and Irma produce cheese and sell on average 100 kg of this product on the local market. The family also owns two hectares of land, where maize is grown. They harvest on average eight tons of maize, which is sold on the local market as well. The family's total average monthly income is 700 Laris, including the pensions of Datuna’s parents.
Datuna requested credit to start up a small poultry farm. He will purchase chickens and raise them for a couple of months. In late spring, Datuna will sell hens on the local open market. The new business initiative will give additional income to the family. Datuna hopes that he will be able to make some savings to renovate the house, which is already old and uncomfortable.
