Mwanamisi is a farmer in the Kitale area of Western Kenya, where she resides with her family of five children. Her children are between 17 and 7 years old and are all in school.
She has been in farming for 16 years and currently employs two farmhands. Her farm produces maize, eggs and tomatoes which all go to the local market. She gets additional income from her employment with the government.
Mwanamisi has requested a loan of 100,000 Kenyan Shillings (KES) from Juhudi Kilimo to boost her farming by constructing a dairy unit, to prepare for a venture into dairy farming, and by buying more poultry for her poultry business. She hopes to be a major supplier of poultry in the area.
She laments the cost of animal feeds and disease management.
