"Itá Yvate" is the name of this fine group of women in the city of Itá. It was created thanks to the fact that the current chair, Claudia, contacted the program advisor to find out how the Enterprising Women Program worked. Once advised about the program, she managed to bring together 16 women who are now very happily in the fourth loan cycle in the program, in an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual help.

Claudia tells us that she sells jewelry that she makes herself, and that thanks to her creativity, she has very good sales. She defines herself as a very hard-working and enterprising woman who has a great desire to succeed, and to be able to help her family through her work.

She is applying for the loan in order to buy thread, needles, pearls, sequins, and other supplies she needs to be able to continue making her jewelry.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
