The 'Aventura' community bank has nine members: eight women and one man. Gabriela is the bank's president. She is 43 years old, married, and has two children who are 13 and 21 years old. Her business is selling clothing and a variety of other products. She makes her sales in the town of Guanay. This loan is her first with the institution. Gabriela will use her loan to buy clothing, utensils and other products for her business. Her reason for requesting this loan is to increase her working capital. She faces challenges in her business such as the innovation of new products. She will use the profits she makes to improve her family's quality of life. Gabriela dreams of having a fixed business so that she no longer has to travel and can therefore be nearer her family. She feels happy and grateful to the institution for the support they are providing.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
