The Communal Bank "Damas del Futuro" (Women of the Future) consists of 14 members who work every day in different activities in order to pay for their household expenses and help their families get ahead. They are known for being friendly and gentle individuals. All of them live in different places around the city of Cuenca. Cuenca is the third largest city in the country and was recognized as a World Heritage Site in December 1999. This city is known for its natural beauty and its culture, since it is enamored by visitors. There are various types of cuisine that are served and the people have preserved their culture and traditions.


One of the members of this group is Sra. Rebeca. She is 32 years old, single, and has two children (ages 9 and 2). Her oldest child attends an elementary school in the city. She does not own a home, so she lives in a rental property.


Doña Rebeca has been employed at a car wash for three years. She works Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm. On Sundays she sells clothing. She has been in this business since she was a young woman.


Rebeca has been a member of her Communal Bank for five years. Her new loan will be invested in the purchase of clothing so that she can grow her business even more. Her dream is to have a house of her own.


The two children who appear in the photo belong to one of the members.

El banco comunal Damas del Futuro está formado por 14 socias, quienes laboran diariamente en diferentes actividades económicas las que les permiten solventar los gastos de sus hogares y sacar adelante a sus familias, se caracterizan por ser personas amables y gentiles. Viven en diferentes lugares de la ciudad de Cuenca, ciudad que es la tercera ciudad más importante del país y desde Diciembre de 1999 es Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, esta ciudad tiene una belleza natural y cultura la cual enamora a sus visitantes, su gastronomía es muy variada, su gente aún conservan la cultura y tradiciones de sus pueblos.

Una de las socias de este grupo es la Señora. Rebeca, tiene 32 años, es soltera y ha concebido 2 hijos de 9 y 2 años de edad, su primer hijo está estudiando en una escuelita de la ciudad. No tiene casa propia por lo que vive arrendando.

Doña Rebeca labora como empleada privada en una lavadora de vehículos desde hace 3 años, trabaja de lunes a sábados desde las 8 de la mañana hasta las 6 de la tarde. Los domingos se dedica a la venta de ropa negocio en el que se encuentra desde muy joven.

Es socia del banco comunal hace 5 años y su nuevo crédito lo va a invertir en la compra de ropa para crecer más en el negocio.

Su sueño es tener su casa propia.

Los dos niños de la foto son hijos de una de las socias.
