This group of female entrepreneurs has one purpose -- to be successful in their businesses so that she can always move forward. They are members of the Communal Bank "Dios es Amor y Mi Guia" (God is Love and My Guide). The group consists of nine members and they have been together for more than 2½ years. They all possess the initiative to change and make progress.

One such member is Sra. Roció. She is 39 years old and the mother of two young children. Roció has been selling beauty products for more than eight years and it has enabled her to support her household and provide her children with the care and education that they need. In the future, she would like to open a grocery store so that she can be near her home all the time. With this recent loan, she will buy more beauty products that are in season.

Just like Sra. Roció, the other members of the Communal Bank "Dios es Amor y Mi Guia" are enterprising and determined women whose only objective is to succeed for themselves and the welfare of their families. Sra. Patricia is pictured on the lower left.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
