It is made up of ten members and led by a board, which Margarita is the head of. The businesses that the community association members are a part of are varied and include: selling vegetables, selling bread, selling food, selling gelatin, selling awayos (traditional woven cloth) and selling meat.

Margarita told us that she joined the community association a year ago. She currently has a meat selling business, which she has been working in for years and learned the business from her Uncle. The loan from this cycle she will use to increase her capital to be able to buy cattle which she buys in the communities close by and sells in the markets. This allows her to support her family. She is married and has five children.

When she was asked what she likes about 'Pro Mujer' she said she likes the life insurance.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
