A loan of $2,550 helped a member to buy peanuts.

Afia De Diatamine Safere Group's story

The group Afia de Diatamine Saféré was founded in December 2008 with the inauguration of the banc villageois. There are 27 women in the group who are very engaged in their work, and there is a lively solidarity in the group.

All the women live in the same village, and they all work in small business. Madame Kadiatou (seated in the middle with her hand raised) is in charge of the group. She is married and is the mother of 6 children. She's very active in the transformation of local products - currently she's turning peanuts into peanut butter. She's 61, and has a solid experience in this activity as she's been doing it for many years.

This loan will allow her to buy peanuts in large quantities. She'll turn the peanuts into peanut butter that she'll sell in the weekly markets in surrounding villages. The income from her work will allow her to better help her husband with the family expenses
