Sok is from Ang Snoul district and is in the business of cultivating rice. She has been in this business for many years. She has her husband and a few single children to help manage all the farming during the year. Sok is responsible for 5 children, however recently one of them got married and now lives independently.
Sok’s daughter is working for a garment factory located far away from home, so she has difficulties with transportation due to the lack of a family-owned vehicle. Sok has applied for a loan from HKL and Kiva to purchase a second-hand motorcycle for household use, as well as to support the family business. Sok hopes to get this loan from our lenders. This is her second cycle loan.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
