Lia lives in the village of Abastumani in South Georgia with her family, including her husband, Avtandil, two sons (23 and 20 years old) and father-in-law. All family members are involved in the family agricultural business. They have a dairy farm where Lia produces cheese. Also, the family grows vegetables on a family-owned plot of land.
Lia also runs a small grocery store in the village. She sells harvested vegetables as well as homemade cheese in her store. The total average monthly income of the family is 600 GEL.
Lia has requested credit so she can purchase calves. Avtandil will take care of the calves and feed them for six months. After six months, Avtandil and Lia will sell the calves for a higher price and earn additional income. The family will use the additional income to purchase necessary household goods and to improve family members' living conditions.
