The communal bank “Virgen De la Puerta” is an enthusiastic group that is made up of 8 members who are part of the Programa-Prosperidad program. Anne is one of the members of this group. She is 51 years old, single, and has no children. For more than 4 years, Anne has had a business selling disposable plates, forks, cups, etc. from a stand that she rents in a shopping center so that she can offer these products for sale. The income she earns is a great help to her, as she contributes financially to her sister to pay for the household expenses. With the goal of continuing to make progress, she is requesting this loan to buy disposable products such as forks, cups and plates, so that in this way she can stock up her business. Anne's goal is to buy her own stand where she could offer her products. The communal bank "Virgen de la Puerta," thanks the Kiva lenders for the help they are providing.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
