Lem is 43 years old, living in Batey district of Kompong Cham province. She has a common law relationship with her spouse for over 20 years and has been blessed with five children; four are single and one is married. Lem has devoted her life time dedicated to rice husbandry, the only business she can generate her livelihood from. Her spouse is also in the same type of business. They work very hard to provide their children a good education, so they may have good jobs in the future.
For this time with her first cycle loan with HKL and Kiva, Lem will use the loan to buy fertilizers to put in her soil to keep her crops in good condition and thereby increase the output of rice. Lem wishes to expand this business in the following years.
