Joumana is a 39-year-old Lebanese woman. She married, living with her husband and five children. Four of the children are studying and the other is working. The whole family combines forces in order to gain superior income and therefore enhance their life.
Joumana started to work as a tailor from her home in the year 2000. Her husband has been working as a private driver since 1995. Today, she’s asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a new, full-option tailoring machine. She notes that this will help her develop her work and improve her designs. In the future, she plans to work on new designs, boost her productivity and open her own evening dress shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
