Mamuka is 40 years old. He is married and lives in the village of Dirbi, West Georgia with his family: his wife – Marine, a 19-year-old son, a 16-year-old daughter and his grandfather. The family members are internally displaced persons as a result of military conflict in the eastern part of the country in 2008. They receive relevant financial assistance from the government. The main source of the income of the family is agriculture. They own 2.5 hectares of land, where garlic, haricots, maize and wheat are grown. Mamuka takes harvested grains and vegetables to nearby towns. Total average monthly income of the family is 800 Laris.
Mamuka requested credit for purchasing barley for sowing. He will sow barley on an additional 2 hectares of land, which will be rented. Also, a small part of the credit will be used for purchasing fertilizers. The income of the family will increase and the family members will be able to purchase additional household goods, to improve their living conditions.
