The '8 de Diciembre' community bank was formed when its 18 members came together to create a group. Each group member works in a business, no matter how small, which allows them to help their families and children. The ladies feel very excited. Their mutual support is constant and they are inspired to keep working hard for their families and working as a team. The fact that they use all the resources available to them makes their hard work their greatest strength.

Emilce is one of this group's members. She says that her business is selling all kinds of clothing. She says that her business is doing very well because she is very skilled at selling things. She is a very hard-working and tenacious woman who works hard every day so that she can provide her family with the best.

Emilce is requesting a loan to buy clothing. This will enable her to continue working and growing as a saleswoman. She is grateful to Fundación Paraguaya and Kiva for the opportunity that her group is receiving.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
