Awatef is a 45-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and only one parent. She’s cooperating with her husband who’s working as a musician in order to fulfill their family needs. As for her, she has owned a tailoring factory since 2006. She’s stylish and fashionable and seeks to please her customers as much as she can. Today, she’s looking to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase added textiles such as cotton, silk, and many other tailoring products. She notes that this will improve her business and therefore increase her productivity. In the future, she plans to open her own clothing shop and also expand her business outside the country.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
