Ibtisam is a 46-year-old, married Lebanese woman living with her husband and two children. She’s responsible, with her husband, for covering the family expenses. Ibtisam had the ambition to have her own business; for this reason, she opened her own call center shop in 2011, where she also sells recharge cards.
Today, she’s asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a new phone for her shop and some recharge cards as well. This will develop her work and, thus, her profits. In the future, she plans to take more Kiva loans in order to renovate her shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
