Rashid is a 54-year-old married Lebanese man. He lives with his wife and three school-aged children. After many years of experience as a carpenter, Rashid decided to open his own carpentry business in 1990. He strives to work really hard in order to satisfy his family's needs and cover his children's school fees. He’s a reputable man who has gained a fair number of loyal customers so far. Today, he is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase the needed quantity of wood for his work. He notes that this will improve his business and thus boost his productivity by 30%. In the future, he plans to take bigger projects outside the country.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
