Ok is a 44-year-old married woman who resides in Pouk district of Siem Reap province. She has been blessed with ten children. This is quite a big family and has had the effect of leading her family into poverty even though Ok and her husband have tried hard to fight against it.
Ok is in the business of growing and selling vegetables to generate income. In parallel, her husband manages all rice farming processes both in the rainy season and the dry season to share responsibility for the family.
At present, Ok would like to acquire some funds from HKL, one of Kiva's partners, to purchase a plot of farmland for developing her business and to buy rice seeds for growing this season. Ok is very appreciative of the constant support from our lenders.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
