The facilitator of the group, Victorine (raising her hand in the photo), is 39 years old and married to a mechanic named Jean. The couple has four children, all in school and all their dependents. Victorine lives with her husband and children. Together with her husband, she takes care of the various household expenses. Victorine has never attended school. In order to cover her various expenses, she sells kitchen utensils and fruits, door-to-door. She stocks up at a market in Benin. In order to boost her activity level and to attract more customers, she is requesting a second loan from ALIDé, along with the other members of the SEDJRO group. Her previous loan has already been repaid.

SEDJRO est un groupe de sept personnes, dont les membres vivent dans le même quartier. La représentante du groupe, Victorine (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 39 ans. Victorine est mariée à un mécanicien du nom de Jean. Le couple a quatre enfants tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Victorine vit ensemble avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges de la maison. Victorine n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Pour faire face à ses différentes charges, Victorine mène comme activité la vente d’ustensiles de cuisine et de fruits de façon ambulante. Victorine s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans le but de rehausser le niveau de son activité et d’accroître sa clientèle, Victorine sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe SEDJRO, un deuxième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Le crédit précédent a été déjà remboursé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
