Yân, 52, has been married for many years but she doesn’t have any children. She permanently lives in Kompong Cham province, Cambodia, where she grows rice to generate her livelihood. Her husband is also in this type of business.
With her first loan from HKL, Yân will purchase a plot of farmland to expand her present business. In the coming seasons, Yân hopes to collect a satisfactory harvest from her rice field.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
