Zaida
Zaida has been a client of Fundación Mujer for several years, during which time she has gotten loans with the goal of having a flow of working capital. She makes bedspreads, curtains, and cushions that her customers buy to decorate their homes. Zaida also sells some other catalogue products. She herself always says that what she sells, they buy from her, because she has a very pleasant way of serving her customers.

Zaida lives only with her husband, with whom she has lived for 40 years. All her children are adults. Nevertheless, Zaida always has contributed to the family finances since her children were little. Now she is helping one of her daughters finish her university studies, and also helps take care of her granddaughter.

Ella confecciona colchas cortinas, almohadones que sus clientes compran para decorar sus hogares. Además doña Zaida vende algunos otros productos de catalogo, pues como ella misma dice todo lo que ella vende se lo compran, pues tiene una forma muy agradable de atender a sus clientes.
Doña Zaida vive solamente con su esposo , con el que tiene 40 años de vivir, todos sus hijos son adultos, sin embargo doña Zaida siempre ha contribuido con la economía familiar desde que sus hijos eran pequeños, ahora ayuda a una de sus hijas a terminar su carrera universitaria y tambien colabora con el cuido de su nieta.

In Costa Rica, funding for microfinance institutions is hard to come by, and many institutions find themselves having difficulty growing and reaching all the demand for loans that exist. Kiva works with Fundacion Mujer because it attends a very marginalized population in Costa Rica, with a specific focus on women. In addition to the loan, Fundacion Mujer provides specialized training programs for their borrowers on everything from computer classes to salon training. Because of the difficulty in obtaining capital in Costa Rica, Fundacion Mujer cannot serve all the women that need loans. Therefore Kiva plays a unique role in helping Fundacion Mujer grow its portfolio and reach borrowers it otherwise would not be able to.
